MitraStar Supply Chain Low-carbon Transformation Kickoff Conference

Hsinchu, November 24, 2023 –Zyxel Group subsidiary MitraStar received a "Large companies leading smaller enterprises to a low carbon and smart supply chain transformation" project grant from the Industrial Development Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. On November 24, 2023 the company held a low-carbon supply chain transformation kick-off conference to combine professional resources from industry, government, and research institutions. This initiative aims to embark on comprehensive sustainable actions, collaborating with the supply chain in energy conservation technology, equipment upgrades, carbon reduction, and digital carbon data management, accelerating towards a new direction of low-carbon transformation and advancing towards the 2050 net-zero goal.

The Chief Sustainability Officer of Zyxel Group, Denise Lin, stated that with the impending implementation of the EU and US carbon border adjustment mechanisms, coupled with carbon reduction demands from major brands, carbon reduction has become crucial for corporate competitiveness. Zyxel Group has outlined its path to achieve the 2050 net-zero transformation, aligning with the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), committing to a 50% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. To lead the supply chain in tackling net-zero opportunities, Zyxel Group will establish an "ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) Digital Sustainability Management Platform" to manage carbon and resource usage across the group and supply chain. Moreover, the company will launch the "Zero Carbon Academy" to mentor the supply chain in carbon awareness and reduction capabilities, regularly monitoring their carbon reduction progress and effectiveness, in order to achieve long-term net-zero goals, foster green economic values, and seize opportunities for sustainable operations.

This low carbon and smart supply chain transformation project is expected to be completed within two years. Through the implementation of digital control systems, it aims to enhance the efficiency of carbon reduction operations, gradually transition process systems, and encourage the supply chain to initiate ISO 14064-1 greenhouse gas inventories as the foundation for product carbon reduction and formulating future low-carbon management goals for the supply chain. Additionally, we will implement a supply chain incentive plan. We will cooperate with the supply chain to develop green product materials and apply sustainable product design concepts throughout each stage of the product lifecycle.

In addition to aligning with government policies for low-carbon transformation and the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) action, Zyxel Group consistently receives recognition and sustainability certifications domestically and internationally. Accolades such as the 2023 TCSA "Sustainable Reporting - Gold Award in the Electronics & Information Manufacturing Industry," the 2023 Business Weekly Carbon Competitiveness Top 100, the 2022 CSA S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment’s fourth ranking in the global communications equipment industry, and the International CDP's Supplier Engagement A Rating, showcase the group's active carbon reduction performance.
